Some makers recommend double-twisted stitching inseams and outseams in order to fill fill the depths of the holes through the relatively thick stacks of material with spiral-like twists. These twists can sharpen the angle at which threads turn to enter each hole, reducing the risk of tearing out toward the previous hole when pulled taught.
