Beading

Also Known As: Piping

Beading is a design feature of uppers where thin pieces of leather rolled into tubes around cords are sewn within the seams, creating a protruding pipe of leather. Beading may also be used as an edge finish.

Long beaded side-seams are characteristic of western boots, hessian boots, and other horse riding boots, sometimes in colors contrasting with the rest of the uppers.
