- extra thick insole
- carve feather and holdfast as for a welted seat
- wide and heavy split lift
- double-thick thread with twice as many cords
- saddle stitch
- feed the thread coming to the inside through loops in the thread heading outward, creating bulges of thread on the insides of the holes, to prevent them tearing out
- two methods:
- Use a relatively straight awl and sew the outsole on inside the seat stitches.
- Use a more curved awl and sew the outsole on outside the seat stitches.
