Glovers Needles

needles with sharp, triangular points originally designed for hand sewing leather gloves

The sharp points and narrow eyes of glovers needles make them convenient for piercing and sewing with a single thread, combining the function of needle and awl. However, the blade-like sharpness of their points makes them unsuited for stitches passing through the same holes more than once, such as saddle stitching, since the sharp points can cut thread already run through the hole.
