hand press using a spring-loaded piston driven by twisting a handle
Compare piston pliers.
Interface
Many Italy-made twist presses accept 12 mm round shank bottom anvils, using a set screw, and top tools threaded 1/4-24, a non-standard threading falling between standardized SAE 1/4-20 UNC and 1/4-28 UNF. It’s sometimes written “1/4-24 UNS”, with “S” for “Special”, but even then the dimensions and tolerances vary. You won’t find 1/4-24 fasteners in hardware stores, even in the USA.
At the same time, other presses seem to ship with arbors threaded metric standard M6-1.0.
