Veldtschoen

This term is used for a variety of constructions, as well as style families characteristically made with those constructions.

Some shoe companies in southern parts of Africa with histories of Dutch settlement use the term to refer to stitchdown construction. Vellies are as rugged, casual shoes sewn that way.

European makers use the term for a few constructions, some welted, such as double upper veldtschoen, some not. These constructions are typically used for more rugged country shoes or boots. For example, Grenson’s “Vincent” boots.
