YouTube video of Angie Shaw showing how to add cording to a cowboy boot top
- coats the back of the top with rubber cement
- can coat less if you only have a little cording
- allow to dry
- attach the paper stitching pattern to the cemented surface
- powder the pattern onto the leather
- this project: butcher’s twine
- powder shows where the cording should go
- uses a glas cutting board to glue the cording so the cement is easier to clean off
- brushes rubber cement on the cord to hold in place while sewing
- lays the cemented cord on the cemented top in the middle of the lines
- pulling cord fairly tight
- twisting it just a bit to make up for loose twist of the cord
- pinch corners to make them sharp and tight
- add the lining to the back of the top
- lay on, fold bottom half off, cement the top
- fold up the bottom half, cement, press down
- careful not to move the cording
- press down to remove bubbles
- burnish around the edges on the front
- e.g. Sharpie with point retracted
- nothing sharp enough to mark the leather
- get the air bubble out
- place pattern back over the front of the top and powder again
- sewing
- flat-bed sewing machine
- wheel sitting along the cording, not on top of it
- need to pattern so the wheel has space
- sandwiching cording between stitch lines
