A pegging awl is an awl with a spike or cylindrical blade used to pierce holes in leather for wood pegs.
Sizing
The pegging awl is ideally sized slightly narrower and slightly shorter than the pegs to be inserted, so the pegs fit tightly and stand proud of the surface when driven home.
