shoemaker stitch where each loop of thread on the inside is twisted and the thread heading outward is passed through it, creating a loop of thread that seats against the hole on the inside

Some makers use knotted shoemaker stitching when welting toes sewing seats, to prevent tearing out the holdfast.

commonly used to sew sew seats without welts in horse riding boots
