In 1919, opened a production plant in Crandon, Wisconsin for rough turning maple. Plant later moved to Antigo, Wisconsin. In the 1950s, the Antigo plant focused more on its bowling pin business. Stopped making lasts and shoe heels in 1968.

Made an offer to acquire Jones & Vining as that company contemplated going private, but was rebuffed. Was later acquired by Jones & Vining, which relocated its manufacturing to Vulcan’s facility.
