Heel Stack

bottom part of a stacked shoe heel between heel seat and top lift made up layers of heel lifts, traditionally leather

Shape

For shoes on lasts with significant wedge angle, one or more heel lifts has to taper at an angle in order for the top lift to rest securely on the ground plane.

Design

More formal shoes sometimes use more thinner heel lifts, while sturdier boots may use fewer, thicker lifts.
