Pattern Line Holes

Also Known As: Pattern Slashes

holes cut into patterns to enable tracing of pattern lines onto the material to be cut

Pattern line holes are often cut by first incising along the line to be traced, then cutting a curve away from the line to create a hole the writing instrument can fit into.

Some makers create pattern line holes by pushing holes along the line, then connecting them with knife cuts.
