a pattern in the shape of the bottom of a last, often equivalent to the insole shape
In foreparts, backparts, and outside waists, bottom papers trace the featherlines. Closing the shape through the arch, where there often isnโt any defined featherline, requires design.
Bottom papers may be used to cut insoles, midsoles, and footbeds.
Bottom papers may also be referred to as last gauges, a more general category, especially when used for quality control of lasts rather than clicking of shoe components.
